Everton pundit ‘amazed’ by Elliott after Liverpool footage emerges

Kevin Campbell is over the moon to see Liverpool teenager Harvey Elliott back in full training.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal striker heaped praise on the 18-year-old for his “brilliant’ start to the season.

Elliott has been sidelined with an ankle injury since Liverpool’s 3-0 win at Elland Road in mid-September.

As pictured on Instagram (18 January), the attacking midfielder returned to first-team training ahead of the Reds’ trip to Arsenal.

Speaking to club media on Wednesday ahead of the League Cup semi-final second leg, Pepijn Lijnders revealed Elliott “needs time” before being involved in matches.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Elliott’s imminent return, ex-Everton star Campbell said: “Listen, Harvey Elliott returning will be a real boost.

“It was a difficult injury that he sustained at Elland Road. It’s amazing to see him back in training. It’s fantastic for the young man.

“I love to see young players do well and he was brilliant in the opening few games of the season. He was starting every week.

“It was difficult to take when he got injured because he was doing so well.

“These youngsters mend so quick nowadays though. It won’t take him long to get back up to speed. It’s great news for the football club, I love it.”

Speaking on Elliott, Lijnders said: “He needs time and we go step by step, of course.

“Some players they never knock on the door, they run through it – and he’s one of them.”
