Pundit can’t believe Lukasz Fabianski could agree deal after West Ham sources hint
Noel Whelan has claimed West Ham will look to “fresh blood” in the goalkeeper position with Lukasz Fabianski’s contract up for renewal at the end of the season.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Irons’ position on Manuel Lanzini may have dropped a hint on the 37-year-old’s future.
Football Insider revealed on 19 September that West Ham are planning to offload Lanzini after completing the club-record signing of Lucas Paqueta, 25, in the summer window.

Like the Argentina international, Fabianski is out of contract at West Ham at the end of the 2022-23 season.
He signed a 12-month extension in July which also includes an optional year extension that can be triggered by the club.
Fabianski has started all seven of the Irons’ league games so far this term.
None of David Moyes’ summer additions were aged 30 and over as the Londoners bolstered their squad with eight new arrivals.
Whelan suggested West Ham now want to bring in players with “longevity and stability” – as evidenced by their transfer business.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “It’s a really difficult position to be in as a player and as a club.
“When you’ve got someone of his age – and it is the back end of his career – it’s difficult.
“I know goalkeepers can go on to play into their forties, but the game is becoming more about distribution and being able to have the ball at your feet now.

“I think if the club are looking to get rid of Lanzini to bring in some younger players and trying to bring in a longevity and stability – I think West Ham will want fresh blood.
“He’s done a great job, but they’ll want someone who can go longer for their success now.”
