Pundit ‘can’t believe’ Mohamed Salah after Liverpool insider’s reveal

Mohammed Salah is still an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s project at Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Former West Ham striker Franck McAvennie has reiterated the importance of the Salah at Liverpool amid links with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Football Insider revealed (25 June) that the Egyptian winger is set to stay at Liverpool this summer despite links with Saudi Arabia.

Salah has been frequently linked with a move to the Middle East, with Saudi Arabian football official Hafez Al-Medlej urging the nation to ‘start working’ on a deal for Salah.

Salah is under contract with Liverpool until 2024/25 after signing a bumper deal with the club in 2022.

The Egyptian star remains one of the most pivotal players at Anfield, and even during Liverpool’s underwhelming 2022/23 campaign Salah managed 30 goals and 16 assists in all competitions.

With move being talked about, McAvennie stressed that the forward is still indispensable at Anfield.

“He will still have at least another two top years at Liverpool,” He told Football Insider

“You’d think Salah had a terrible season in the last campaign, but he managed to score 30 goals, and I couldn’t believe it.

“That many goals in not bad for somebody who has gone under the radar, so with the importance he brings, I think he is worth every penny for Liverpool.

“He’s a great influence to the team, and I don’t think he’s at the stage of his career where he should be leaving.”
