Pundit can’t believe what’s happening at Newcastle as ‘strange’ new arrival reported

Paddy Kenny has questioned the decision to appoint a short-term transfer advisor at Newcastle United.

The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, expressed concerns over Eddie Howe’s role in transfer talks.

On Tuesday (7 December), The Daily Mail reported the Magpies are set to appoint a short-term football recruitment advisor.

It was also reported Newcastle have hired an external recruitment firm to help in their search for a director of football.

Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, who run Newcastle day-to-day, have no prior experience of running a football club.

Kenny isn’t convinced by the arrangement.

“Obviously the owners have no experience,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They tried to get a director of football in and that hasn’t worked. It makes sense they would look elsewhere.

“Transfer recruitment advisor? Is that a new job role that has been made up?

“As long as that person is seasoned in the game and has done plenty of transfer stuff before, they will be fine.

“I just wonder, how does that work? What if Eddie Howe says he wants a player and this guy says no?

“It could happen the other way around. Do you trust the guy who is on a short-term contract or your manager?

“It’s strange. I think that’s one to keep an eye on because Newcastle need to get this window right.”
