Pundit ‘delighted’ by Daniel Levy after Tottenham manager reveal

Frank McAvennie has insisted Tottenham are doing everything right ahead of next season and will be challenging for third place in the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-West Ham striker said Antonio Conte has “kept the right players” and made “wonderful” additions to the squad.

Speaking to club media (23 July), Conte said he is “delighted” with his Spurs team after they came from a goal down to beat Rangers in a pre-season friendly at Ibrox.

Conte added that he is working hard to ensure his players have the right mentality and insisted they have to continue with the right mindset at the start of next season.

McAvennie lauded chairman Daniel Levy for allowing the manager to make new signings.

I’m delighted Daniel Levy has put his hand in his pocket and given back to the manager,” he told Football Insider.

Conte is one of the elite managers and he said he would leave if he didn’t get the money, so they gave him it. I don’t think Conte will pick many bad players.

I don’t know much about the new signings. He’s brought in seven now and even if two don’t make it, it’s still a wonderful addition to the Tottenham squad.

They’ve brought in a manager that Harry Kane loves and they’ve kept the right players there so I think they’re going to be challenging for European spots next year.

I don’t think they’ll be challenging for the league but they’ll be challenging for third.
