Pundit eviscerates ‘unbelievable’ Tottenham move after confirmed news

Frank McAvennie has claimed Tottenham refunding fans’ tickets is a “nonsense”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker told Spurs to thank their fans on the pitch rather than refudnding their tickets.

The Lilywhites suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday (23 April).

On Tuesday (25 April), the players released a statement apologising to the away fans who made the trip up north and said they will be refunding travelling fans for the cost of their match tickets.

As shown on Sky Sports (24 April), the Magpies fired past the visiting side five times in the opening 20 minutes of the top half clash.

Harry Kane eventually managed to pull one back for Spurs but it did nothing to stop them suffering a heavy defeat in an important game in their race for top four.

The result also called time on caretaker manager Cristian Stellini’s spell in charge of the club as Ryan Mason takes over to steer the ship until the end of the season.

McAvennie couldn’t believe Spurs’ decision to issue refunds.

It is a lot of nonsense, unbelievable it does not really do anything,” he told Football Insider.

Go out on the pitch this week and thank them that way.

I could not give a monkey’s about Tottenham but everyone is forgetting how well Newcastle played. I do not even think a good Tottenham team could have matched that, no matter who the manager is.
