Pundit explains how Ndombele is having ‘negative impact’ on Tottenham after bombshell

Noel Whelan has insisted wantaway star Tanguy Ndombele should be “cut loose” by new Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

The ex-Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, warned of potential negativity spreading to other members of the squad.

Football Insider exclusively revealed last week (August 19th) that Ndombele has informed Spurs that he wants to leave the club this summer.

Sky Sports reported on Saturday (August 21st) that Bayern Munich have offered midfielder Corentin Tolisso plus £17.2million for the services of the Frenchman.

Whelan asserted that Spurs are right to be exploring options to let Ndombele depart the club.

“It’s someone who doesn’t want to be at the club, he’s already asked to leave,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“I find it very difficult to see how you can keep someone like that at the club.

“You want that togetherness in your squad, and Nuno will want that as well.

“If a player’s not happy and he doesn’t fit into the squad, you have to get rid.

“You don’t want any negativity surrounding the players who are there fighting for that badge.

“Clearly, he’s not interested in fighting for his place or being part of that squad.

“It can have a negative impact on the whole squad, and right now it seems like he is separated from the first team.

“It’s the right thing to do.

“It isn’t an easy decision because he’s a quality player on his day, but sometimes you have to cut players loose.”

Ndombele didn’t play a single minute of pre-season and has been excluded from Premier League squads to face Manchester City and Wolves.

The ex-Lyon man signed for Tottenham for a club-record £55million fee in 2019.
