Pundit hails last-gasp Arsenal signing – ‘in a world of their own’

Alan Hutton is impressed by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s “intelligent” signing of Jorginho.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that although at first glance Jorginho doesn’t appear to be an Arsenal signing, he will inevitably come good.

On 31 January, the Gunners confirmed the deadline day capture of the 31-year-old, who joins on an 18-month deal from Chelsea that includes the option of a further year.

Speaking on the signing, sporting director Edu said that the midfielder fits the club’s style of play can help continue their momentum.

Hutton suggested the signing is not as strange as people might think.

I think Chelsea are just in a world of their own at this moment in time,” he told Football Insider.

The amount of players that they are bringing in, you have to shift players out. You can’t just retain those sorts of numbers, especially when they are that level of football player you have to move them on.

So I think it is a good move for Arsenal, I think it is an intelligent one. Even though at first glance he might not fit into their way of playing, I think there will come a time where he will be needed.

Later on in the season, he is cool with the ball and that could be something that they could need later on because he has got that experience.

In other news, Arsenal convinced youngster with two starts will soon be worth £50m+.
