Pundit issues ‘huge’ Dallas claim after what’s ‘gone on behind the scenes’ at Leeds
Noel Whelan has hailed “vital player” Stuart Dallas after his “amazing” strike on his 250th Leeds United appearance.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 30-year-old has filled in brilliantly in a number of positions this term.
Dallas marked his 250th game for Leeds United by registering a crucial strike to put the Yorkshire side 2-1 up against Burnley at Elland Road on Sunday (2 December).
The goal was the 56-time Northern Ireland international’s first of this term after he registered eight league goals last season.
The former Brentford man has been a utility man for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season as Leeds United continue to struggle with injury problems.
Whelan suggested the midfielder’s “experience and quality” is important to the Whites.
“Dallas is a vital player who Leeds United know they can turn to,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’ll always give you 110% no matter what, there’s no doubt about that – and he’s shown that this season with what’s gone on behind the scenes.
“He’s been a brilliant player for us in almost every position, and he can do that because he’s a very talented footballer.
“We needed someone with that little bit more experience, bit more quality and composure against Burnley. Luckily the ball fell to him, and what a finish it was – amazing.
“He deserved that goal more than anybody, and what a way to cap off his 250th league appearance. What a huge achievement.”

Dallas has been utilised at left-back, right-back, central midfield, and wide midfield by Leeds United this term.
The 30-year-old, whose contract expires in 2024, joined the Whites in 2015.
