Pundit issues ‘huge’ Rangnick claim after ‘surprising’ Man United reveal

Paul Robinson has claimed Ralf Rangnick will want to make “huge changes” at Man United after an encouraging start at Old Trafford.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the Red Devils “had a clear identity” against Crystal Palace but urged fans not to get “carried away”.

The Rangnick era began with a 1-0 win over Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Speaking to Sky Sports (6 December), Rangnick said he was “positively surprised” and “more than happy” with his team’s performance.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of United’s display, Robinson said: “I don’t think the stats are where Rangnick will want them to be just yet.

“But there is a clear identity of how he wants them to play. They channeled Crystal Palace down one side. You could see what he asked of those players.

“Let’s be honest though, any manager would get a bounce. I think some people are getting carried away. It’s important to remember they only beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at home.

“Yes, there was an identity and a clear difference to the way they played but there is still a lot of work to do. Rangnick will know that. He will want to make huge changes there.”
