De Gea 'let himself down in a lot of ways' as Man United footage emerges - pundit
Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Man United goalkeeper David de Gea and claimed he is “back to his best” this season.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 31-year-old “let himself down in a lot of ways” against Arsenal.
De Gea was heavily involved in Emile Smith-Rowe’s bizarre goal in United’s 3-2 win over the Gunners on Thursday.
As shown by Amazon Prime (2 December), the Red Devils shot-stopper went down and stayed down in the build up to Smith-Rowe’s opener.
However, the injury proved not to be serious with the Spain international rising to his feet shortly after the goal went in.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the controversial incident, Robinson said:

“I’ve found it very hard to back goalkeepers this week and I usually always do.
“De Gea let himself down with the way he acted against Arsenal. He should not have laid on the ground like that.
“If it was a serious injury or a head injury there is a different conversation to have. When he is up and playing two minutes later…
“He’s been brilliant this season. Probably back to his best but I think he has let himself down in a lot of ways in that moment.”
De Gea kept his fourth clean sheet of the season on Sunday as Man United beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Old Trafford.
He has made 20 appearances across all competitions.
