Pundit issues ‘incredible’ Gianluca Scamacca verdict as ‘big’ West Ham prediction made
West Ham will be challenging for Europe this season now Gianluca Scamacca has found his form.
That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the striker’s start to life in England.
Scamacca, 23, has now scored six goals in 14 total appearances for the Hammers after joining them from Sassuolo in the summer.

After a slow start to the season, David Moyes’ side now sit 12th in the Premier League and McLeish claims they will continue to rise if Scamacca keeps scoring.
“I watch my fair amount of Italian football so I had seen Scamacca play a bit before he joined West Ham,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“I was impressed by what I saw. Now he has started scoring for West Ham and that is exactly what they have needed for a while.
“Antonio was the only guy there who could score goals for a while and when he wasn’t scoring West Ham weren’t winning.
“Now you have this big, tall, athletic striker up there who seems to know where the goal is and that could be the difference between getting back up towards the European spots.
“You have to say he has been an incredible signing and he will be a big player for them if he continues to score.”

Scamacca notched 16 goals for Sassuolo last term while Jarrod Bowen, West Ham’s top scorer, finished with 18 in all competitions.
West Ham are next in action against Liverpool on Wednesday (19 October).
