Pundit issues ‘really exciting’ Alexander Isak prediction after what he’s spotted at Newcastle United
Alexander Isak could prove to be the difference maker as Newcastle United hunt down Champions League qualification.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Isak, 23, made his Premier League return in the second half of Newcastle’s 1-0 win over Fulham on Sunday (15 January), scoring his side’s last-gasp winner.
It was the striker’s first league appearance since September, though he had featured in the Magpies’ previous two games in the League Cup and FA Cup.
After scoring his third goal in four total league appearances, Wenham is expecting big things from the Sweden international.
“He’s looked sharp since he came back, the man is basically a new signing,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“When players are sidelined for so long, they often take the time to bed in at clubs. Time they might not have had if they were fully fit.
“So he will have been behind the scenes, learning about the club and the city as well as becoming aware of what Eddie Howe wants to do tactically.
“Just so when he was ready to come back he could go straight into the team and be on the same level as everyone else.
“I think that showed at the weekend when Wilson crossed for Isak, it looks like they have a relationship already. So that is three goals in four games for him, it’s not a bad start, is it?

“He’s a difference maker and I think he is going to score a lot of goals for Newcastle United.
“The fans thought it was a really exciting signing and at this point, I have to agree.”
