Pundit issues unexpected Tottenham-Liverpool claim as ‘great news’ emerges
Tottenham could finish second in the Premier League this season after an impressive start to the campaign.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider aftree being left impressed with the club summer business and opened day win.
Spurs beat Southampton 4-1 in their first game of the Premier League season (6 August).
This came after a busy summer at N17, with Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forester, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence all arriving at the club.
After opening day win, Kenny claims Spurs could even challenge for the second position in the league.
“We are all expecting Tottenham to do well this season, they had a great start,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Southampton were poor and will struggle this season but it was still a great win. They managed to score four goals without Kane or Son getting one.
“That’s obviously great news because just think how good they will be once they do start scoring.
“They were scoring so many goals at the back end of last season so it would not surprise me if they score four or five goals in more games this season.
“They are going to be formidable. I really do fancy them for third at a minimum this season, they could get higher, up there with Liverpool.
“With Conte at the helm, anything is possible.”

Tottenham are next in action against Chelsea on Sunday (14 August).
The Blues beat Spurs four times last season.
