Pundit lambasts Luke Shaw after what he saw at Man United – ‘it’s killing them’
Noel Whelan has insisted Luke Shaw won’t have helped his chances of returning to the Man United side after his “schoolboy error” during the Manchester derby.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed United’s defensive ability in key moments is “killing them”.
Shaw, 27, was making his first Premier League appearance since the humbling 4-0 defeat at Brentford in August – but couldn’t prevent City from adding the gloss to their 6-3 win on Sunday (2 October) with two second-half goals.

As seen in footage from Sky Sports’ YouTube channel, the England international was caught napping by Phil Foden while trying to play the midfielder offside.
Shaw has been replaced by summer signing Tyrell Malacia in the Man United starting eleven for each of the last four Premier League games.
Despite his axing, the left-back kept his place in Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad just weeks out from the World Cup in Qatar.
Whelan slammed the “catalogue of errors” for Foden’s hat-trick goal on Sunday.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Looking at that third Foden goal, there’s a sea of United players all around him.
“Everyone was fixated on Haaland and ignored other players who were in more dangerous positions.
“It was a catalogue of errors for that particular goal.
“You could point the finger at any of those five or six players who let that happen.
“It was a very easily preventable goal, and that is what killed them. That defensive ability in key moments.

“You can’t allow the time for Haaland to pick the pass, and you especially can’t switch off as Luke Shaw did when there’s a player like Foden next to you.
“It was a schoolboy error, and it really won’t help his chances of breaking back into that side.”
