Pundit makes ‘incredible’ Levy claim as Tottenham finalise Sissoko transfer

Noel Whelanh has claimed Tottenham could pull off a “quite incredible” deal by selling Moussa Sissoko for £7million.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted getting an seven-figure fee for the 32-year-old is “very good business” from Spurs.

As revealed by Football Insider (27th August), Tottenham have accepted a £7million bid from the Hornets for Sissoko.

A Spurs source has updated to reveal the France international had arrived at Watford’s training ground on Friday for a medical and to finalise personal terms.

He has not played a minute of the Lilywhites’ four games this season and has been told by Nuno Espirito Santo he is free to leave.

Whelan admitted Sissoko appeared to be “surplus to requirements” at Spurs.

As such, he insisted getting a seven-figure fee would be a great return on the midfielder.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “You’ve got a player there that’s surplus to requirements.

“They’re going in a different direction and they’re trying to bring money back into the club.

“They’ve had him how long, four, five years? To get that return back on a player is very good business again.

“Daniel Levy doing very, very well for the football club again by getting a player out of the door. Getting some money back, that is quite incredible considering you paid £30million for him.

“You’re dwindling the squad down.”

Sissoko was on the bench for the season opener against Manchester City.

However, he has not featured in a matchday squad since.

He has a total of 202 appearances under his belt for the Lilywhites to date.
