Pundit makes ‘unexpected’ Ramsdale claim after ‘unreal’ Arsenal reveal
England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has settled in at Arsenal “better than anyone would have expected”, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 23-year-old is a “really good age” and will “only get better” between the sticks in north London.
Goalkeeping analyst John Harrison lauded Ramsdale’s “unreal” display against Aston Villa, revealing that all 12 of the shot-stopper’s passes during the clash resulted in unpressurised possession for Arsenal – highlighting his ability with the ball at his feet.
In Ramsdale’s last match, the Gunners notched a 3-1 win over Villa at the Emirates last Friday to take their Premier League unbeaten run to six games.
They followed that up with a 2-0 EFL Cup win over Leeds United on Tuesday night as Ramsdale dropped down to the bench in a much-changed starting XI.
Whelan insisted Arsenal have managed to find a “really good balance and rhythm” with their summer signings.
“He’s settled in really well, quicker than anyone would have expected,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“A lot of people may have questioned it, but at the end of the day he is in the international set-up so he can’t be a bad goalkeeper.
“They’ve done the right thing by getting in a British goalkeeper in terms of the communication and leading from the back.
“He’s a really good age – he’s only going to get better over the years with Arsenal.
“They’ve got a really good balance and rhythm with the players they’ve brought in. They look like they are really getting it together.
“They look a lot stronger with a bit more belief.
“The fee will have been questioned, but it’s not about the money they paid but rather the years of service they’re going to get from him in the future.”

Ramsdale cost Arsenal a reported potential fee of £30million.
He joined from relegated Sheffield United.
