Pundit reveals ‘massive’ factor that will lure Newcastle star Alexander Isak to Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s history of playing at the “top level” will attract Newcastle star Alexander Isak to Arsenal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie hailed the Sweden international as an “excellent” striker who would thrive at the Emirates.

Isak has been widely linked with a move to the Gunners this month as they attempt to recruit a prolific goalscorer, while Newcastle are under pressure to sell due to their Financial Fair Play obligations.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form for the Magpies this season, notching 14 goals across 23 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been in desperate need of a prolific forward, with Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus scoring just 13 between them in all competitions this season.

McAvennie was adamant that Arteta, who has played for Arsenal, Everton, Rangers and Paris Saint-Germain, has the pull to attract Isak.

“I think he would be excellent at Arsenal,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s energetic, he’s quick and a great player.

“Now will decide how good a manager Mikel Arteta is because a lot of things are going belly-up.

“They’re not winning games they should be and people are finding them out – they need a striker.

“But I think Arsenal will come through it and Arteta is a big manager.

“Every good manager goes through these things.

“The fact that Arteta has played at the top level will attract big players like Isak.

“Isak would be a massive signing at Arsenal, but I’m not sure they’d want to sell one of their best players to a rival.”
