Pundit salutes Aston Villa as new Carney Chukwuemeka details emerge
Carney Chukwuemeka’s move to Chelsea from Aston Villa is a “good move for all parties”, according to Paddy Kenny.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Sheffield United and Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper claimed Chukwuemeka’s wage demands proved he wanted out of Aston Villa.
Sources told Football Insider last month (18 July) that the 18-year-old wanted an astonishing £100,000-a-week to commit his future to the Midlands club.
The Daily Mail reported on Thursday (4 August) the England youth international’s move to Stamford Bridge is worth £20million and he has signed a six-year deal.
He had less than 12 months left to run on his contract at Villa Park and was free to negotiate with other clubs in Janaury.
“With him demanding those sorts of wages knowing Villa won’t give them to him or can’t afford it, that’s him saying ‘I want out’, without saying he wants out,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I think it’s a good move for all parties. Villa have got a good price for him, a young lad with potential but he’s not the finished article and has a long way to go.
“Listen, I think he was a Chelsea fan. He’s an up-and-coming one for Chelsea to develop and look out for over the next few years to see how he develops.”

Chukwuemeka made 16 senior appearances for Aston Villa, including two starts in the Premier League.
He was left out of the club’s pre-season tour to Australia this summer and was forced to train with the Under-23s before his move to Chelsea.
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Aston Villa may have just agreed a new deal with a lifelong fan.
