Pundit slams Hugo Lloris after Tottenham injury update – ‘he’s been terrible’

Tottenham will not be worried about Hugo Lloris’ latest injury as Fraser Forster is a better goalkeeper.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the goalkeeper’s injury.

Matt Law reported on Wednesday (8 February) that Lloris is set to miss the next six to eight weeks of action after suffering a knee injury.

The Spurs goalkeeper made his latest high-profile mistake on 15 January’s North London Derby, pushing Bukayo Saka’s cross into his own net under little pressure.

Fraser Forster is now set to start for Tottenham in Lloris absence and McManus claims the former Celtic man is the better goalkeeper.

“Is Lloris being injured a blow for Tottenham? I’m not too sure,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“I have been critical of him before and he is obviously a World Cup winner, he’s the captain but I think Forster is just as good as him if not a better goalkeeper.

“I don’t think it’s the blow a lot of people are making it out to be. He’s the captain of the club so he has a lot of influence in the dressing room which might be a loss.

“But in terms of actual goalkeeping, I don’t think it’s a big loss, he’s been terrible recently. I do think he had a good game against Man City at the weekend to be fair.

“He was commanding his box and came out bravely. But I don’t think him being gone is a big issue.”

Tottenham

Lloris has started all but one of Spurs’ Premier League games this season.

Forster started on Boxing Day as Tottenham drew 2-2 with Brentford.
