Pundit suggests ‘a call has gone in’ as ‘available’ Wijnaldum told to re-join Newcastle

Paddy Kenny has suggested Newcastle have already contacted Paris Saint Germain over a loan deal for Gini Wijnaldum.

The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, urged Wijnaldum to move back to the North East.

Sky Sports reported on 8 December the PSG midfielder is open to a return to the Premier League with Arsenal a potential destination.

The former Toon man has not had the best start to life in the French capital and recently revealed he was “not happy” at his new club.

The 31-year-old told Dutch outlet NOS on 11 October the situation at PSG is “not what I wanted”.

Kenny claims Wijnaldum should return to the club where he scored 11 goals during the 2015-16 season.

“We have been hearing a lot about Wijnaldum wanting to get out of PSG,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It looks like it hasn’t gone well for him this season, I still don’t know why Liverpool let him go.

“We know he played well up at Newcastle and he might be open to coming back on loan.

“They can afford his wages and they need quality players who can immediately improve them.

“When you look at it like that, it’s a no brainer. We know Newcastle are on the hunt.

“I would suspect a call has gone in. Everyone knows he’s available.

“I’m sure the fans would like that too, I don’t think there were any hard feelings when he left.”

Wijhnaldum has made 22 appearances for PSG this season.

However, he has only started in 12 of those outings.
