Pundit suggests when David Moyes will be sacked after West Ham board source’s reveal
Noel Whelan has claimed West Ham are likely David Moyes if he fails to emerge from Premier League games against Wolves or Leeds United with a win.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted he hopes Moyes’ “remarkable” tenure at the London Stadium isn’t forgotten if he is forced out of the club.
West Ham fell to yet another defeat on Friday (30 December) – losing 2-0 at home against Brentford to spark mass unrest within the crowd at the final whistle.
Sources told this site on Saturday (31 December) that Moyes is edging closer to the sack following the result amid friction in his relationship with co-owner David Sullivan.
It is understood that Sullivan and the West Ham board will not hesitate to sack Moyes in the coming days if they believe he cannot edge them away from the relegation zone.
The Irons sit 17th in the Premier League and are only outside the drop zone on goal difference.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Moyes deserves this opportunity.
“But this block of games – you’ve got to come away with something. These are teams who are down in that fight with West Ham.
“They’ve got to be coming away with three points.
“West Ham aren’t the only team who desperately need to get their season up and running, but it doesn’t make the situation any less desperate.
“I think the board will know what they need to do if things don’t go to plan.

“They’ll have to make that change to get this season up and running.
“I just hope what Moyes has done up until now isn’t forgotten, because it has been remarkable.”
