Pundit: This may be real reason Oleksandr Zinchenko heading for Arsenal

Alan Hutton has insisted Oleksandr Zinchenko will want to be a regular starter at Arsenal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League right-back is adamant Zinchenko will be joining the Gunners in search of regular game time.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano (20 July), Mikel Arteta’s side have completed a deal with Man City for the 25-year-old.

Man City

The Ukraine international will put pen to paper on a four-year contract.

Zinchenko currently has two years left on his contract with City.

When asked if the left-back could be a regular starter for Arsenal, Hutton told Football Insider correspondent Charlotte Cohen: “He’ll definitely want to be.

Why would you leave Man City where, say he plays 20 games a season, why would he leave that to go to Arsenal to do the same thing. You might as well stay where you are and win trophies.

The manager would never tell you that you’re the starter, that never happens, but he will go there thinking he’s got the ability to break into that team and be the number one, wherever that may be.

He could play out on the wing, for Ukraine I’ve seen him play in midfield and at left-back so he’s versatile and I think that’s what’s good for him.

Arsenal

Zinchenko made 28 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side across all competitions last season.

He provided five assists in those outings.
