Attacker axed after Wednesday night shocker: Rangers best possible XI to play v Celtic

COMMENT

Rangers manager Graeme Murty must make two changes to his side if he wants to field his strongest starting XI against Celtic on Saturday.

Josh Windass and Jamie Barjonas must to come in to the starting XI with Eduardo Herrera and Ryan Jack making way in the Gers’ 4-1-2-1-2 shape to take on the Scottish Premiership leaders

Rangers’ injury problems have left Murty with a threadbare squad with Jack, Graham Dorrans, Kenny Miller, Jordan Rossiter and Jak Alnwick all set to miss Old Firm clash through injury

Wes Foderingham must continue goal behind the Gers’ defence of James Tavernier, Bruno Alves, Danny Wilson and Declan John.

Captain Lee Wallace could make the bench at Celtic Park but almost certain he won’t be fit to start after missing several months of first-team action with a groin injury.

Ross McCrorie should continue at the base of the Gers’ midfield diamond with Jason Holt and Jamie Barjonas just in front of him looking to create chances.

After his performance agaist Motherwell, Niko Kranjcar should be given another start at number 10 with Alfredo Morelos partnered up front by Josh Windass instead of attacker Herrera – who must be axed after a shocker against Motherwell on Wednesday.

Windass missed the win over Motherwell through suspension but is available once more for Murty’s side.

A win for the Gers would be a huge morale boost going into January’s winter break and would give Murty and his side something to build on in the second-half of the campaign.
