Maguire: Rangers will secure blockbuster Morelos/Kamara fees on one condition

Rangers can secure blockbuster fees for their star players – but only if they reach the final rounds of the Europa League.

That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively after Rangers secured a first Scottish Premiership title in a decade.

Steven Gerrard can now direct his attention towards his side’s Europa League last-16 tie with Slavia Prague.

Football Insider revealed that Rangers value Glen Kamara at £10million-plus after his starring performances in Europe this season.

This site also broke news that the Glasgow giants consider their progress in the Europa League crucial in determining Alfredo Morelo’s transfer value.

And Maguire claims that Rangers can squeeze their assets for all they’re worth if they continue to march on in Europe.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “Rangers have done very well in Europe this season and I think that is an excellent showcase for their talent.

“That more than anything else is likely to increase market interest than anywhere else for players of their calibre.

“If you can prove you can do it on a regular basis against European opponents, then you’ve proven you’ve got flexibility.

“Scottish football tends to play a particular way and a club like Rangers have bigger guns to fight against that, but you have to be more tactically and technically proficient to succeed in Europe.

“The way the market works means that scouts will recognise that and value will increase accordingly.”

Rangers advanced to the last-16 after a stunning 9-5 aggregate victory over Royal Antwerp in the round-of-32.

Prior to that, they topped their group containing Benfica, Standard Liege and Lech Poznan, winning four games and drawing two.

In other news, a top pundit claims that a queue of English clubs are lining up to sign Alfredo Morelos.
