Expert: Ianis Hagi could be sent on ‘scouting mission’ after Rangers latest

Rangers may consider sending Ianis Hagi away on scouting missions to ensure that he does not become disconnected from the club during his recovery from injury.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Hagi, 23, has been out of action since he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in January.

As quoted by the Daily Record, the Romanian playmaker revealed that he has felt “alone” through large parts of his recovery.

Dinnery suggested several ways that Rangers could help mitigate the feelings of psychological isolation so common with ACL injuries.

“It’s different for different players,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Each player will have different responses. There’s no point in blanketing all players together. Many will do frequent social media updates in order to connect with supporters and still feel involved with the club.

“The most important thing is to make the player feel a part of the everyday at the club. When you’re on the fringes, it’s easy to feel forgotten about.

“In the early phase, it might be good to have some time away. Maybe go back to your homeland, see your friends. A lot of that initial phase of recovery can be done by yourself.

“We see examples of players even getting involved in tactical missions and scouting at other clubs. These are all ways to make players feel wanted and part of the process.

“Ultimately, that’s what you want. The body will heal faster if you’re in a good frame of mind. You’re going to work harder, believe, and recover quicker.”
