Rangers facing another manager rejection – ‘I wouldn’t be looking to go to Ibrox’
Rangers are set to face yet another managerial rejection as they continue to struggle to replace Russell Martin.
Martin was dismissed by the Glasgow giants on Sunday (5 October) evening, after an awful start to the season.
Rangers had looked set to appoint Steven Gerrard, but the former Liverpool midfielder has now ruled himself out of the running.
It comes after another candidate, Sean Dyche, also rejected the opportunity to take the job at Ibrox.

Rangers are set for a third rejection
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Rangers could be set for another rejection, with current Hearts manager Derek McInnes backed to turn down any offer that comes his way.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that McInnes would be “foolish” to leave the Jam Tarts, considering the current position they are in.
Hearts are top of the Scottish Premiership as it stands, two points clear of Celtic, and 11 points above Rangers.
Wyness added that McInnes should be staying where he is for now, despite being a former Rangers player between 1995 and 2000.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Derek McInnes, I think he’d be foolish to leave Hearts right now.
“They seem to have something going. I mean, they’re top of the table, two-point lead, and they’ve got Tony Bloom and the whole new regime behind them.
“If I were Derek McInnes, I’d be staying where I am. I wouldn’t be looking to go to Rangers. Even though he was a Rangers player, I think he’d be better off staying at Hearts.”
Rangers set sights on new manager option
With Dyche and Gerrard both now out of the running, and McInnes being urged to stick with Hearts, Rangers are moving on to other options.
One name that has consistently popped up is Danny Rohl, former Sheffield Wednesday manager, who has been out of work since he left the Owls in the summer.

Rohl has reportedly wowed the Rangers hierarchy during his interview, with the likes of Andrew Cavenagh, Paraag Marathe and Kevin Thelwell all impressed.
The 36-year-old is now the favourite to take over at Ibrox among the bookies.
