Rangers facing ‘big’ competition for Jack Butland after source’s reveal – pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed Rangers will face competition from other clubs for Jack Butland’s signature.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Butland may have offers to stay in England as the Gers close in on a move.
Last month, sources told this site that the Light Blues have opened talks over signing the 30-year-old who will be available for free at the end of the season.
The shot stopper is believed to be “very keen” to join the Glasgow giants after struggling for game time in recent years.
Butland has spent the second half 2022-23 season on loan at Man United but has made zero appearances for the first team since arriving at Old Trafford in January.
The goalkeeper’s Palace contract is also set to expire in the summer but the club retain the option of a further 12 months on the end of it.
McAvennie suggested Butland will be the subject of interest at the end of the season, not just from Rangers.
“Would he come to Scotland? I do not know,” he told Football Insider.
“He is a decent keeper and he might get offers to stay down south.

“There is no getting away from it they are a big club. There is talk of them buying all these players but I still do not know where they are getting the money from.
“Why they are letting so many players go for nothing, it beggars belief. It is so bad the way it is run.“
