'Get a life' – Rangers fans react to attacker's public statement after controversy
Rangers attacker Josh Windass apologised on Friday after shushing Gers fans during the 2-0 win over Partick Thistle in midweek.
The 24-year-old insisted in his public statement there was no malice behind the celebration and that he had forgotten about it almost as soon as it happened.
The attacker has come in for criticism from fans and manager Graeme Murty for his performances despite scoring regularly for the Gers even though he has scored four times in his last three games.
Windass was hauled over the coals by Murty for his actions but Rangers fans want the matter put to bed after dragging on for a number of days.
Here are some of their best comments on Twitter:
Despite his inconsistent form, Windass has bagged ten goals in 29 appearances this season with nine of those coming since Graeme Murty was appointed manager in October.
The former Accrington ace was the subject of bids from a number of English clubs in the January transfer window however none met the Gers valuation of the 24-year-old.
The attacker is likely to be involved in Sunday’s Scottish Cup clash with Ayr United at Somerset Park and will be hoping to carry on his fine goalscoring form in the competition after netting a hat-trick in the previous round against Highland League minnows Fraserburgh.
