Rangers star is digging his Ibrox grave with his latest public comments
Rangers attacker Josh Windass has apologised after shushing fans following his goal against Partick Thistle on Tuesday – but the 24-year-old is just digging his grave at Ibrox with what he has said.
After holding his hands up and admitting he had reacted in the wrong way by putting a single digit up to his lips, the former Accrington star then went on and said he “forgot about it” straight away, as quoted by the Evening Times.
If he had stopped talking before he got round to saying he immediately forgot about it and was only reminded of it by “other people bringing it up” then he would have been fine.
Instead, he has either forgotten – or thinks everyone else has forgotten – that he then posted a photo of his celebration on his personal Instagram page after the game.
The 24-year-old is a good, if infuriating, player but sometimes he needs to take a step back and think before opening his mouth because he often ends with egg on his face – like the time he told RangersTV that he doesn’t like eggs but likes an omlette.
Maybe for the next few weeks at least, it might be better for Josh to concentrate on his football and try keep himself away from trouble – and microphones.
If he can do that and turn in more consistent performances on the pitch, fans won’t care if he makes a different single finger gesture in their direction.
On the other hand, if he keeps being at the centre of controversy, then the Rangers hierarchy will have to consider his position at Ibrox closely.
In other Rangers news, it can be revealed that a key first teamer has sensationally asked to leave after the board failed to stick to their promise of giving him a new deal during the transfer window.
