‘The best’ – Rangers fans rave about one player after loss v Motherwell

By Danny Wright

Rangers fans on Twitter have raved about Daniel Candeias for his performance in the poor 2-0 loss to Motherwell at Hampden Park on Sunday.

Pedro Caixinha’s men were dumped out of the Scottish League Cup semi-final by a physical Motherwell side thanks to a brilliant brace by Louis Moult, setting up a final clash with holders Celtic next month.

In a performance that had very few positives for Rangers, most fans found some hope in Candeias’ display at the weekend.

The 29-year-old, who arrived from Benfica in the summer, did a decent job on the right wing and was arguably the best players on the pitch for the Gers.

Rangers supporters clearly share that thought, and took to Twitter to rave about the winger for his performance, with one fan saying the Portuguese ace is “the best winger” the club has had in years.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Candeias has been ever-present for Caixinha this term, making the right-wing role his own having started all but one of the 14 matches across all competitions, when he came off the bench against Proges in the Europa League.

He has made a total of 14 appearances for the Gers this term, scoring three goals and supplying four assists in the process.

The ex-Benfica man could have easily added to his goal tally against Motherwell on Sunday but it seemed that he couldn’t find his shooting boots for the clash despite playing well.

In other Rangers news, Caixinha has said who should be to blame for the Hampden Park loss.
