‘Rather Craig Whyte came back’ – Rangers fans react after striker reveals Ibrox desire

Former Rangers striker Steven Naismith has said he has a desire to return to Ibrox in January – and Gers fans on Twitter appear to not want the Norwich City striker anywhere near the club.

Naismith has said that a return to Ibrox would “appeal” to him if he quits Norwich City in January after being bombed out at Carrow Road.

The striker left Rangers in 2012 after refusing to transfer his contract to the new company which bought the club from administrators.

Naismith claimed it was no longer the same club and insisted he had no loyalty to Sevco – the company which bought the club – before joining Everton that summer.

Fans haven’t forgiven Naismith for the way he left the club – with one saying he should “never grace the shirt again.”

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Naismith has only made three appearances for Norwich this season and has been struggling with an ankle injury.

The 31-year-old doesn’t look to have much of a future at Carrow Road after falling out of favour.

During his five years at Ibrox, Naismith won three Scottish titles, a Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup as he scored 33 times in 140 appearances.

Naismith has won 45 caps for Scotland with his last coming in the draw with Canada in March.
