‘Just because we can’ – Celtic fans react to reported interest in Rangers 20-year-old

By Danny Wright

Celtic fans on Twitter are mainly positive about the prospect of signing Rangers midfielder Emerson Hyndman.

The 20-year-old has been in hot form since moving to Ibrox on a loan deal from Bournemouth and according to the Daily Record, the Bhoys have approached his parent club with an eye to a shock summer move.

Some Celtic fans see him as a decent squad player but think that Brendan Rogers should be aiming higher.

However others see it is a huge opportunity to land a big blow on their fierce Old Firm rivals – and they should sign him just because they can!

In his 12 appearances for Rangers, Hyndman has scored four goals and provided three assists which included a dramatic late winner against St. Johnstone in early March.

Hyndman has one senior cap for the USA national side and moved to the Cherries from Fulham in 2016 for a fee of £750,000.

He made just three appearances for Eddie Howe’s side but they only came in cup matches against lower league opposition.

The Dallas-born playmaker featured in Bournemouth’s embarrassing losses to both Millwall and Preston.

Here is a selection of tweets from the Parkhead faithful about the 20-year-old:
