Rangers fans react on Twitter as Steven Gerrard is confirmed as manager
Rangers have confirmed Steven Gerrard as the club’s new manager – and Gers fans are going absolutely wild at the news the Liverpool icon has taken charge of the Light Blues.
The Ibrox giants confirmed the news on their official Twitter account on Friday afternoon before a hastily-arranged press conference to present him to the media.
Gerrard will take the reins in the summer on a four-year deal after leaving Liverpool, where he had been Under-18s head coach, and Gers fans were delighted – with one fan saying the Champions League winner will “take us to victory next season.”
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
The Light Blues have three games remaining in the campaign with Jimmy Nicholl taking charge of Saturday’s visit of Kilmarnock before trips to Pittodrie and Easter Road to face Aberdeen and Hibernian.
Gerrard will almost certainly be present at Ibrox on Saturday and could be presented to fans at the Light Blues final home game of the campaign as the curtain comes down on a disappointing season.
The 37-year-old’s appointment will be viewed as a massive coup by the Ibrox giants as the 114-times capped England star takes his first steps into management.
In other Rangers news, this centre-back wanted by the Gers and rivals Celtic is due to head to Glasgow with his deal expiring soon.
