‘We are in trouble’ – Rangers fans react as 23-year-old starts v Motherwell

By James Black

Pedro Caixinha has named his starting XI to face Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park on Saturday – and Rangers fans are split at seeing Josh Windass named in the side.

The Light Blues have made only two changes from the side which beat St. Johnstone last Friday with Jason Holt and Wes Foderingham dropping out for Ryan Jack and Jak Alnwick, as confirmed by Rangers’ official Twitter account.

Windass has largely failed to impress fans despite being a mainstay in Caixinha’s side and some Gers supporters believe the former Accrington midfielder is the weak link in their side.

Fans still want to see the winger perform but have serious doubts over his ability based on his performances for the Light Blues so far, with one claiming his side are “in trouble” if he doesn’t play well enough.

Some still have faith in Windass’ ability though, and one or two have even tipped the 23-year-old to score.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Windass has been Rangers’ first-choice left winger so far this season but supporters are clamouring for Dalcio or Aaron Nemane to be given an opportunity there.

The winner of today’s game will face Celtic in next month’s final at Hampden after Brendan Rodgers’ side eased past Hibs 4-2 in yesterday’s other semi-final.
