Rangers are on the hunt for a permanent manager ahead of next season and they could look to a former Champions League winner to move the club forward under the new ownership.

The Scottish giants parted ways with Philippe Clement after a disappointing period in the club’s history, with the experienced Belgian coach unable to bring success to Ibrox.

Rangers opted to hire former club captain Barry Ferguson on a temporary basis to manage the team until the end of the season, but he has struggled to make an impact on the team’s form.

Former Aberdeen CEO Keith Wyness revealed to Football Insider that Ferguson hasn’t “got any chance” of getting the role on a permanent basis, despite the manager claiming he will be judged at the end of the season.

The Gers are a whopping 16 points behind Celtic at the moment, with the Europa League standing as their only chance of winning silverware this season.

Mourinho was complimentary about the Gers and was cryptic about potentially wanting to coach in Scotland at some point in the future, but things are less up in the air regarding Rafael Benitez.

Benitez is currently out of work after he was dismissed by Celta Vigo back in March 2024 after a dismal run where they won just five times in 28 games.

The Spanish coach has an impressive track record throughout his career and that’s why Rangers fans believe the club should “get him in” if he’s open to the idea.
