Rangers selection headache: 10 different solutions to recurring problem

Fabio Cardoso and David Bates

Cardoso and Bates played together in Rangers’ first two games of the season against Progrés Niederkorn and both looked completely out of their depth against the Luxembourgish part-timers.

Against Aberdeen on Sunday though, neither put a foot wrong as they repelled everything the Dons could throw at them.

There’s the makings of a good defender in Cardoso and Bates’ ability to keep everything simple could mesh well with the Portuguese.

Could be given a chance to show what they can do together against Ross County if Wilson and Alves can’t overcome injuries.

Unlikely to be the first-choice pairing but, with a good showing against Ross County – if they play together – then they might just get the litle bit of luck needed to keep the jerseys.
