Rangers ‘gambling’ with finances as ‘worst-case’ scenario on the cards after director reveal
Rangers are “gambling” on securing their place in next season’s Champions League group stage amid the club’s stance on selling first-team stars.
That’s according to former Leeds stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Gers’ annual general meeting.
As quoted by the Scottish Sun, Rangers managing director Stewart Robinson told the club’s AGM they do not need to sell players to balance the books.

Rangers posted a £23.5million loss on 5 November, meaning they have lost £71.7m since they first returned to European competition in 2017-18.
Kenny insists missing out on the league title this season and a place in next season’s Champions League group stage is the “worst-case” scenario for Rangers.
“Everything in football is a risk,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I’m sure Rangers are in control of their finances. Of course, there will always be that worry.
“The Champions League is so important to some clubs and I’m sure not making the group stages this season was a blow.
“Obviously the whoever wins the league this season goes straight into the groups and gets that payday.
“That’s one hell of an incentive, not that you need extra motivation to win the league title.
“If Celtic manage to win the league and Rangers then don’t qualify for the Champions League groups, that’s the worst-case scenario.

“There is a lot of football still to play but we know Celtic’s finances are better than Rangers’.
“And, if it comes down to it and the gamble doesn’t pay off, they do have plenty of sellable assets.”
