Rangers have received ‘ridiculous’ Hamza Igamane offer

Rangers have received a “ridiculous” offer for Hamza Igamane following interest from multiple clubs this summer.

Football Insider revealed on 12 August Rangers are expecting to receive several offers for Igamane before the transfer window closes on 1 September.

The Scottish giants are believed to be demanding between £15-20million for the 22-year-old striker.

Rangers signed the Morocco international in a deal worth around £2.5million from AS FAR last summer.

Igamane registered 16 goals and three assists in 46 appearances last season, but he’s played just 66 minutes at the start of the new campaign under Russell Martin

Hamza Igamane exit verdict shared

This article contains exclusive comment from Keith Wyness, former Everton, Aston Villa and Aberdeen CEO.

Everton have been linked with Igamane alongside several other top clubs, but they have been put off by Rangers’ asking price.

Rangers Review reported on 18 August Ibrox chiefs have laughed off a “bizarre” bid from Lille for the striker, with the French club offering to sign him on loan without a fee included in the proposal.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness said: “They’ve been valuing him at somewhere between £10-15million, and to say we’ll take him on loan, it is ridiculous.

“It makes no sense at all. I mean, even if you’d have come with player swaps or that sort of thing, you’d have expected it.

“But I don’t understand why clubs are making ridiculous offers like that.

“I would never have done that in my day because you just don’t get taken seriously.

“You’re the boy that cried wolf eventually when you come with a real deal, so you just don’t waste people’s time.

“Unless there’s something we’re not being told, of course, but then again, I don’t know who the real ownership and management group is that’s running it.

“I don’t know how serious they are about things.

And the Glasgow media, I also have to question that because they do defend either Rangers or Celtic very fiercely and will spin every story to suit them, so I always have that caveat as well.”

The Glasgow side have signed Oscar Cortes, Oliver Antman, Thelo Aasgaard, Emmanuel Fernandez, Djeidi Gassama, Joe Rothwell and Lyall Cameron on permanent deals.

Meanwhile, Mikey Moore, Nasser Djiga, Max Aarons and Jayden Meghoma have all made the move to Ibrox on loan.
