‘An ideal world’ – Graeme Murty details long-term Rangers transfer plan

Rangers manager Graeme Murty has revealed he wouldn’t be against selling players with a sell-on clause inserted as part of their transfer, saying it makes “good business sense”.

The Gers haven’t had much luck in years gone by of bringing talent in cheaply and selling them on at a profit – in contrast to their city rivals Celtic who have found a nice little niche.

With the transfer window days away from opening Murty revealed he would first and foremost be looking for people to come in and make an immediate impact but would be open to looking longer term in the future,

“I think it makes good business sense for anyone in the world to buy cheap and sell high and insert a sell on clause as well if you can,” Murty said, as quoted by the club’s official website.

“We would not be averse to doing that at all because it is a revenue stream that is tapable and it could push us closer to the guys who are in front of us at the moment.

“If we can do that it would be an ideal world but we have to make sure in this January window that we get people who can impact us now and help us push on in this season.”

The Gers have already snapped up Declan John on a permanent deal and could be busy in the transfer market next month if Murty is given room to bring his own players in after being named full-time manager last week.

Director of football Mark Allen will also have a big role in any transfers next month as the club look to move on as quickly as possible from Pedro Caixinha’s disastrous reign in charge.

Several of Caixinha’s summer signings have struggled to get into the side since the Portuguese was sacked two months ago leaving question marks over their long-term future at Ibrox.
