Low-key Rangers player is putting big-name team-mates to shame
COMMENT
Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty joined Rangers in January to a fairly low-key welcome but the 21-year-old has been putting some of his big-name colleagues to shame with his performances for the Gers.
The boyhood Gers fan was the only one of Graeme Murty’s side to get pass marks for their performance in Saturday’s Scottish Premiership defeat at the hands of Kilmarnock and has shown a fantastic work-rate and desire to win for the Light Blues.
Watching some of his team-mates go through the motions and look only vaguely interested is galling for Rangers fans to see and despite Docherty’s humble beginnings he looks like the one player who you can guarantee bursting a gut regardless of score or opposition.
The 21-year-old has started to draw comparisons with Ibrox legend Ian Ferguson and, while it is way to early to be making such links, it is pretty good company to be mentioned in the same breath as and shows the impact the Scotland Under-21 international has made at Ibrox.
Ir’s still very early days in Docerty’s Gers career but the 21-year-old can already be pleased with the way he has acquitted himself for the Ibrox giants and forced his way into being one of the first names on the teamsheet.
