Rangers board must ignore criticism and stand by senior man

COMMENT

Rangers manager Graeme Murty has come in for serious criticism from fans after the Gers lost their second game in a week to fall further behind Old Firm rivals Celtic.

The Gers struggled to a 1-0 defeat against Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Saturday to follow up last weekend’s 3-2 Old Firm defeat.

Some Gers fans have been calling for the Ibrox board to take immediate action and appoint a long-term successor to Pedro Caixinha instead of waiting until the end of the season.

The Gers have had mixed results under senior man Murty but had shown a remarkable improvement from the winter break with the Ibrox giants only losing one of ten games before the Old Firm clash.

Since losing to Brendan Rodgers’ side though, the Gers have been heavily criticised despite their previous form and while some of it has been deserved, some has verged  on the ridiculous.

The Gers boss has improved as a coach over his six months and has got decent results so far in his tenure.

While it’s far from perfect the Gers’ boss hasn’t came into a great st of circumstances and without any clear candidate to replace him on the horizon there doesn’t appear to be many alternatives for the Gers board.
