Rangers on the brink of sealing transfer window ‘top priority’ – Robinson

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will be “a very happy man” if he wakes up on Wednesday morning with all his key players at the club.

That is the view of Gerrard’s former England teammate Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gers’ “top priority” ahead of the transfer window closing.

Steven Gerrard has so far managed to keep all of his title-winning stars at Ibrox despite much transfer speculation this summer.

It has been widely reported that the Gers have rejected offers for Alfredo Morelos and Nathan Patterson during this window.

As revealed by Football Insider (August 27th), the club are braced for offers from Leeds for Ryan Kent before Tuesday’s deadline.

Kent was the subject of numerous unsuccessful bids from the Premier League side last summer.

Robinson believes Gerrard will be desperate for the likes of Kent to stay.

“It will have been their top priority to keep the nucleus of their squad together,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“That group of players showed last season how strong they were. It would be a massive success for Steven if he could keep them together.

“I think he would be waking up a very happy man if all of his top players are still there on Wednesday morning. He will be desperate to keep their squad intact.

“Thursday was vitally important because financially, the last thing they could afford was to fall out of Europe.”
