Three more teams have been confirmed for January’s Florida Cup involving Rangers, according to a report.

The Orlando Sentinel claims that they have been told be a spokesperson that European giants PSV Eindhoven, Ecuador’s Barcelona S.C. and Atlético Mineiro from Brazil are the latest three names to have agreed a deal to take part in the competition.

Colombian’s Atletico Nacional and Brazilians Corinthians have already been confirmed for the eight-team tournament from January 10-20.

The report adds that a further two teams will be confirmed next week.

Rangers will travel to Florida during the winter break in Scotland hoping to be prepared for a push at the title in the second-half of the season.

Pedro Caixinha’s side currently sit six points off leaders Celtic and Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership and face fourth-placed St. Johnstone after the current international break.

Bundesliga outfit FC Cologne won the Florida Cup in 2015, Atlético Mineiro were triumphant in 2016 with São Paulo and German side Wolfsburg winning trophies in 2017

“The Florida Cup will provide top class opposition for us during the winter shutdown in Scotland and the warm weather training in America will be a huge benefit ahead of the second half of our domestic campaign.” manager Pedro Caixinha said when Rangers’ involvement in the competition was announced, as quoted by the club’s official website.

“It will be a great experience for our players.”

In previous seasons, games have taken place in Orlando, St. Petersburg and Lauderhill.
