Rangers players must grasp chance to impress Gerrard in season-defining 90 minutes

COMMENT

Rangers’ next league match against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Tuesday is a huge game for the Ibrox club.

A win would ensure that the Light Blues are in pole position to finish as runners-up in the Scottish Premiership, whilst a defeat would confirm at least a third place finish for the second year in a row.

As well as making sure that they have made progression in the league table a year on from last season’s third placed finish, the game could also provide some interesting viewing for recently appointed Gers boss Steven Gerrard.

If the Gers are able to get the win in what will undeniably be a hostile environment, it could well give Gerrard some pointers as to what players are worth persevering with next season.

The appointment of Gerrard seems to have created a bit of a feelgood factor off the park at Ibrox, as fans seem excited that such a big name in British football has elected to start his managerial career with the Light Blues.

That must transform to matters on the park, and fans won’t accept another third placed finish in the league, so it is imperative that the Gers get three points on Tuesday, which would put them in the box seat for second place in the league, it would give Gerrard a platform to work from for next season.
