Rangers plot summer swoop for Man United midfielder
By Harry Sykes
Rangers are plotting a summer swoop for promising Manchester United youngster Matty Willock, according to ESPN sources.
20-year-old Willock has shown bags of promise at Old Trafford, and although he’s yet to make a senior appearance for United he has made the bench twice in the Premier League, in the games against West Brom and Crystal Palace last season.
ESPN report that Willock has been left out of United’s pre-season tour of the United States, fuelling suspicion that he could be heading out on loan to pick up some valuable playing time.
Willock has just signed a new contract with United, which means he’s unlikely to move on a permanent deal, and a loan move could suit Rangers, who have been busy in the transfer market already.
New manager Pedro Caixinha has made a massive overhaul of a Rangers squad that disappointed in the Scottish Premiership last season.
He has already signed nine players, including Bruno Alves, Daniel Candeias, Ryan Jack and Graham Dorrans.
However, they’ve suffered a terrible start to the new campaign, getting dumped out of the Europa League by Luxembourg minnows Progres Neiderkorn.
In other Rangers transfer news, Tam McManus has slammed Caixinha saying that his appointment was a big mistake.
