Rangers are set to complete the loan signing of Liverpool attacker Sheyi Ojo when he returns from holiday next week, Football Insider understands.
The winger, 21, has a verbal agreement in place to spend next season at Ibrox after a breakthrough in talks at the end of last month.
Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Ojo is set to link up with Steven Gerrard’s squad at their pre-season training camp in Portugal as preparations get underway for the new campaign.
Liverpool regard the left-footed wide man, who likes to cut in from the right flank, similarly to Mohamed Salah and Xherdan Shaqiri at Anfield, as a real talent even though his previous loan spells have produced mixed results.
The most recent of his four loans came last season at French club Reims, where he scored only one goal in 19 matches and failed to establish himself in their side.
Steven Gerrard has high hopes for the player he knows well from Liverpool and who is now set to become the third player from the Premier League giants to join Rangers on loan during his year in charge, following Ryan Kent and Ovie Ejaria.
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Ojo has agreed the terms of a new five-year contract with Liverpool even though he only signed his most recent extension in August of last year.
Gerrard is also still working on a deal to sign Ryan Kent on loan for a second consecutive campaign, although that is unrelated to the Ojo deal and it will have no bearing on whether Rangers are successful in signing a second Liverpool winger.
