Rangers should launch summer swoop for former Celtic loanee and do what Hoops couldn’t

COMMENT

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed earlier this week that on-loan midfielder Charley Musonda would have his loan at Parkhead cut short and he would return to Chelsea – and Rangers director of football Mark Allen should try to bring the talented Belgian to Ibrox instead.

Musonda failed to break into the Celtic side as the Hoops headed towards a double treble but the 21-year-old hasn’t
become a bad player overnight and could really be a useful player for the Gers.

With Steven Gerrard taking the reins this summer and the Liverpool icon has spoken in the past about hard-work and commitment being far more valuable than natural talent and he could be just the man to help take Musonda to the next level.

When the Chelsea youngster joined Celtic at the start of the year it was claimed the Hoops had to fight off a host of clubs to secure his signature – with Rodgers even claiming Real Madrid wanted to sign him after impressing while on loan at Betis.

The talented Belgian has the ability to change games but doesn’t seem to have the right mentality to get the most from his talents and a spell working under Gerrard and his assistant Gary McAllister could be the perfect solution for all parties.

The Gers could even give him the number 55 shirt if they signed him.

In other Rangers transfer news, the club are in hot pursuit of a 6’4″ colossus who could be signing of the season.
