Rangers 24-year-old must learn to handle criticism if he wants to last at Ibrox

COMMENT

Rangers attacker Josh Windass has responded to criticism from a journalist on Twitter – but the 24-year-old needs to learn to deal with criticism if he is going to last at Ibrox.

The 24-year-old attacker was called the “hide and seek champion of Scottish football” by the Daily Record‘s Gary Ralston and hit back on his personal Twitter account by asking who the journalist was.

There can’t be many who think Windass’ performances have been good enough – particularly over the last few weeks – and the star himself surely can’t think his performances are above criticism.

While Windass might have scored 17 goals this season, there have been far too many times when the attacker has disappeared from games and left the Light Blues struggling.

With Windass regularly playing as a number 10 for the Gers, having him struggle to impose himself on games it has had massive consequences in games as others have to try and fill the space left by Windass.

Like any player at clubs the size of Rangers and Celtic, poor performances are going to bring criticism and Windass’ recent performances have certainly merited criticism.

As long as Windass isn’t performing there will be pundits and commentators who will say as much but jumping to respond to them is either a player with thin skin or blissfully unaware of just how he is playing.

Either way, the only way for Windass to silence his critics is to start performing like he was earlier in the year and help the Gers secure second in the Scottish Premiership.
