Rangers star responds on Twitter after being dubbed ‘hide and seek champion’ by journalist

Rangers star Josh Windass has reacted to a journalist’s criticism of him on Twitter after he was called a “hide and seek champion.”

The 24-year-old attacker’s performances have come in for criticism from fans and pundits alike with the Daily Record’s Gary Ralston making the comments in the paper’s podcast, calling the Rangers attacker “the hide and seek champion of Scottish football”.

Windass responded on his personal Twitter account asking “who is Gary Ralston” followed by a number of laughing of emojis.

Despite being level with Alfredo Morelos as the Light Blues’ top goalscorer this season, Windass’ performances – particularly in recent weeks – have come in for stick from fans who accuse the 17-goal attacker of going missing.

Football Insider verdict:

Ralston’s comments probably sit somewhere close to what a large swathe of Rangers fans think and Windass’ response comes across as being a bit thin-skinned. If Windass thinks his recent performances are above criticism then the 24-year-old is clearly living in his own little dream world. While he’s far from the worst performer for the Gers this season there can be no doubt he’s a player who the Light Blues’ whole shape depends on and he can often be anonymous in games when the Ibrox giants really need him. His form at Ibrox, in particular, has been nothing short of woeful this season.
